Excel to Tally XML in three steps

You have the data in Excel and Tally wants vouchers. Upload the sheet as it is — LedgerSync works out which column is the date, the narration, the debit, the credit, the party and the GST, maps each row to a ledger, and writes a Tally XML file with one voucher per row. Import it and the entries are in your books.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get an actual XML file to keep?

Yes. Every import has a “Tally XML” button that downloads a standard Tally import file containing all its vouchers. Keep it, email it, or import it on any machine — it is a plain XML file, not a locked format.

How do I import the XML into Tally?

Open the company in TallyPrime, go to Gateway of Tally → Import → Vouchers, choose the downloaded file and press Enter. On Tally.ERP 9 it is Gateway of Tally → Import of Data → Vouchers. Tally reports how many vouchers it created.

Do I need the connector for this?

No — that is the point. The connector posts to Tally directly over the gateway, which is the fastest route when Tally is on a machine you control. When it isn't — a client's PC, a locked-down network, a machine with no internet — download the XML and import it by hand instead.

Will the vouchers look hand-typed?

Yes. The file contains ordinary Receipt, Payment, Sales, Purchase and Journal vouchers against your existing ledgers, with Accounting Invoice mode for sales and purchases. Nothing in Tally marks them as imported.

What if a ledger in the file doesn't exist in Tally?

Tally will flag it during the import. Map the row to an existing ledger in LedgerSync before downloading, or create the ledger in Tally first — the app lists exactly which ledgers an import needs before you export.

Is it free?

The free trial covers 100 entries with no monthly reset, and the XML download is included. Entry packs start at ₹1,199 for 3,000 entries.
